Another random gunshot brings a quick police response

POUGHKEEPSIE – City cops on a foot patrol Tuesday night at approximately 10:45 p.m. in the area of Main and North White Streets heard a disturbance and what sounded like a gunshot. The foot patrol officers proceeded to the area of the disturbance while additional patrol units responded to assist.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that an argument had occurred at a party in a rear lot on North White Street which resulted in a shot being fired.

Witnesses told police that multiple people fled the area through the backyards on North White Street prior to police arrival. Crime Scene Technicians and Detectives responded to the scene to collect evidence and conduct interviews. A shell casing was located and collected.

City 911 dispatch did not receive any calls reporting this incident. The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call the confidential TIP LINE at (845)451-7577.
