HYDE PARK – Town and Dutchess County officials joined the Hyde Park community on Wednesday for the official ribbon-cutting of three new pickleball courts at Dinsmore Park in Staatsburg.  The park also unveiled the restored basketball courts in the park.

The project was funded through a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of federal funds distributed by Dutchess County, and money from the Town Recreation Trust Fund.

Town Supervisor Aileen Rohr said the improvements at Dinsmore Park are “a nice enhancement for the park in the charming hamlet of Staatsburg and available to all Hyde Park residents,” and she thanked Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro for the support.

The supervisor noted that “parks bring people together,” and called the partnership with the county proof that “to get things done, you’ve got to do it together.”

Rohr said that Hyde Park has been pursuing park enhancements through several grant applications for state-of-the-art playgrounds in various locations. Molinaro verified that claim by announcing that, with the support of the county legislature, Hyde Park will be receiving another $100,000 CDBG check to create an ADA playground area at Dinsmore. “Our investments often are about breaking down barriers too, and creating accessibility for everyone of every ability, and every age.”

State Senator Sue Serino (R-Hyde Park), a former member of the Hyde Park Town Board who went on to serve on the county legislature representing Staatsburg, called the revitalization of Dinsmore “a tremendous benefit that will give the community members a chance to interact with each other in a well-planned setting.”
