RED HOOK – The Red Hook Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old Red Hook woman after investigating a car accident on Tuesday night.  Police were dispatched to a report of a car that crashed into a utility pole on North Broadway in the village at approximately 10:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a 2016 Volkswagen operated by Emily Cavotti that had struck a pole.  Police say that Cavotti was traveling northbound when her vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole on the east side of North Broadway.  The pole had been snapped in half as a result of the collision, causing widespread power outages in the village and town.

The uninjured Cavotti was interviewed by police at the scene and found to be under the influence of alcohol.  She was taken into custody and charged with two counts of misdemeanor DWI.  Cavotti also received a ticket for using an electronic device while driving.  Cavotti was issued appearance tickets for a future court date.

Red Hook Police were assisted on scene by the State Police, Dutchess County Sheriffs Office, Red Hook Fire Company, and Central Hudson.
