Stabbing victim refuses to cooperate with authorities

First responders tend to the man who was stabbed in Poughkeepsie Monday afternoon.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police were dispatched to a report of a stabbing Monday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m.  The report was that a man sustained a stab wound in the vicinity of Maple and North Cherry Streets in the city.

The victim was located, walking west on the arterial.  Police were able to convince him to stop for evaluation in the vicinity of Mill and North Hamilton Streets.  Poughkeepsie firefighters responded to the location and went to work triaging a “serious” stab wound to the man’s left bicep.

The victim refused to provide information to police regarding the incident, including who stabbed him or where it had taken place.

Medics from Mobile Life also responded to the scene to evaluate the Hispanic man’s wound.  When they suggested that he be taken to a local hospital for additional treatment, the victim declined.
