Police respond to multiple reports of gunshots early Sunday morning

POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie police are investigating several reports of “shots fired” received early Sunday morning.  Multiple callers alerted City 911 and reported hearing gunfire in the area of N. Clinton and Thompson Streets at approximately 5:30 a.m. on August 1.

 
Responding officers found no victims in the vicinity and began a thorough investigation.  Police learned that several vehicles had sped away from the area before officers arrived.  Multiple shell casings from different caliber weapons were recovered.  Two vehicles parked on N. Clinton Street sustained damage after being struck by bullets.
 
Officers and crime scene technicians recovered multiple items of evidence in the area, according to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA.
