Funeral home director pleads guilty to defrauding customers

NEW CITY – The owner of Scarr Funeral Home, Leonard Scarr, pled guilty to two counts of grand larceny, forgery, and scheme to defraud in connection with his scheme to rip off 90 people with a total loss of $531,017.

When sentenced, he is expected to get a prison term of two to six years and make full restitution.

Scarr’s property was also seized and sold with the sum of $540,000 to be paid at $9,000 per month for five years, to be paid back to the victim’ s of his thefts.
