Dutchess County Comptroller Robin Lois and Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher are going to sponsor fraud detection training focused on the non-profit sector.

The training, “Don’t Get Burned,” is developed and led by State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s State Government Accountability Division and is designed to help organizations detect and prevent fraud.

Whether a budget is $50000 or $50 million, a non-profit organization could become the victim of fraud. “Don’t Get Burned” is designed for non-profit executive directors, program managers, finance and human resources staff, and board members, and can prepare individuals and organizations to be proactive in protecting their finances by strengthening internal controls and assessing potential risks.

The seminar will take place virtually on Wednesday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is being hosted by Family Services Inc.

The seminar is free and CPAs may qualify for CPE credits.

To register, email Carolyn Malile of Family Services at cmalile@familyservicesny.org.
