NEWBURGH – Newburgh City Manager Torrance Harvey has appointed Anika Mohammed as a city court judge to replace Peter Kulkin who retired.
Mohammed’s tern expires at the end of the year. She will have to seek election in November.
Mohammed is a former assistant Orange County District attorney. In that position, she handled felony and misdemeanor cases including prosecution of larceny, driving, violent and traffic offenses.
Mohammed is a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley and a graduate of Pace University School of Law and Marist College.
She began her term on the Newburgh bench on July 12.
