STONY POINT – A traffic stop on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the Town of Stony Point led to the arrests of a Middletown man and Bronx woman on charges that they possessed a defaced gun.
State Police from the Haverstraw barracks stopped a 2006 Volkswagen Passat for vehicle and traffic violations at around 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 and investigation revealed they were in possession of an illegally defaced and loaded Taurus Model P2-22 handgun.
Edison Estevez, 20, of Middletown, and Shailene Ventura Vasquez, 22, of the Bronx, were arrested for criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a defaced weapon, both felonies.
Ventura was also charged with a misdemeanor or drug possession.
Both were remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
