Worker critically injured in quarry accident

WURTSBORO – A 54-year-old man was critically injured on Wednesday when an excavator he was operating rolled over at JML Quarries in Wurtsboro.  The incident at 154 Dump Road was reported at 12:39 p.m.

First responders from the New York State Police, Wurtsboro and Rock Hill Fire Departments, Mamakating EMS, and MobileMedic ALS worked for more than an hour to extricate the man who was pinned between the cab and the articulating boom on the machine.

He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center by a Lifenet helicopter.  His injuries were considered to be life-threatening, acccording to first responders on the scene.
