HIGHLAND – The New York State Bridge Authority, which operates the five Mid-Hudson River crossings as well as maintains the superstructure of the Walkway Over the Hudson, has a new executive director.

Maureen Coleman was named by the board of commissioners to replace Tara Sullivan, who has served as acting executive director.

Coleman has over 20 years of state service, most recently as general counsel at New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation since 2015, where she also served as acting president and CEO from July 2019 through January 2021.

Prior to that she served as assistant counsel for energy and environment in the Executive Chamber as well as many years at the Department of Environmental Conservation.

“The Bridge Authority is in the midst of multiple transformational projects here in the Hudson Valley, including the conversion of all five NYSBA spans to cashless tolling,” said Authority Board Chairwoman Joan McDonald. “Maureen’s breadth of experience and dedication to serving the people of New York State make her well-suited for this new role.”

Coleman holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from Brooklyn Law School.
