KINGSTON – ATVs are now off-limits on public property including city sidewalks and in parks in the City of Kingston.

The common council has taken action to curtail the use of all-terrain vehicles and other unregistered vehicles from utilizing public property as their own playground.

The council has voted to change the city code by banning the use ATVs on public property, including city sidewalks and parks.

The request to the change in the city ordinance came from Police Chief Egidio Tinti, who also requested that the council change the fees associated with impounded ATVs but the council has yet to address the matter.

The council’s Finance and Audit Committee indicated that the impound fees would be discussed at a later date.
