To the Mid Hudson News Editor:
I wanted to share with you my very positive experience with firefighters from the N. Clover Street Firehouse in the City of Poughkeepsie this past Monday (July 12) in the early morning hours. They arrived within moments and treated me with absolute respect, consideration, and kindness.
Their professionalism was impeccable and their thoroughness of checking out my apartment and the building was impressive. They even found a way to get into an empty apartment without having to break through the door to avoid property damage. That is, one of the firefighters climbed onto a short ladder and made his way through a window, and he did this with his heavy uniform and equipment.
Every time I expressed how badly I felt that they had to come out for what seemed to end up as a non-emergency, they immediately stated how it was okay, it was their job, and that it was better to be safe than sorry.
As a relatively new resident of the City of Poughkeepsie, I’m truly grateful for these hard-working humans who maintain fire safety in our city.

Most sincerely,
Elena Yee
Poughkeepsie, NY
