New Windsor police seek witnesses to early morning accident

NEW WINDSOR – Town police are seeking witnesses to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Windsor Highway (State Route 32) and Union Avenue (County Route 69).  The accident, according to police, involved a passenger car and a one-wheeled electric skateboard.

The operator of the passenger car was not injured. There were no other occupants in the car. 

The operator of the one-wheeled electric skateboard sustained serious injuries and was transported to  Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh by a New Windsor Emergency Medical Services ambulance. A bicycle safety helmet was being worn by the operator at the time of the collision, police said. 

The New Windsor Police Department’s accident reconstruction team responded to the scene to investigate the collision and the cause has not yet been determined. 

The intersection was closed to traffic until approximately 6:30 a.m. while police conducted their investigation.
