Teenager is the latest victim of gun violence in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 16-year-old male was shot early Monday morning in Poughkeepsie.  City police responded to the incident at approximately 12:11 a.m. in the area of 55 Smith Street, near the intersection of Mansion Street.

Upon arrival, officers found the teen with a bullet wound to the arm.  Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s arm to slow blood loss prior to the arrival of Mobile Life medics.

The victim was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital for further treatment.

The shooting happened in the vicinity of 55 Smith Street, pictured above.

According to City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Rich Wilson, evidence of the crime was secured by police at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
