KINGSTON – The proposed $27.3 million SUNY Ulster budget includes no tuition hike, no layoffs and no increase in the county’s contribution.

The spending plan was presented to the oversight committee of the Ulster County Legislature on Tuesday.

Jamie Capuano, the college’s vice president for administrative services, said there is a slight dip in enrollment.

“We are seeing a shift from full-time enrollment to part-time enrollment. Most of that is due to COVID. Individuals are going to work, trying to get back in the workforce, so they are taking fewer classes,” she said.

The county’s share of the spending plan stands at $6.4 million.

The full county legislature must approve the funding in the weeks ahead.
