WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives has passed its $715 billion transportation bill that includes $10 million for projects in the 17th District represented by Mondaire Jones.

The INVEST in America Act also includes an amendment introduced by Jones directing the Government Accountability Office to conduct a study on the economic benefits of one-seat ride commuter rail service between urban and suburban areas. Jones said the bill is “a critical step forward” in the fight for direct, one-seat rail service between Rockland County and New York City.

The INVEST in America Act includes funding requested by Congressman Jones for the following projects:

$4,550,000 for the Hudson Line Tunnels (Peekskill, NY)

$1,500,000 for the Half Moon Bay Bridge Reconstruction Project (Croton-on-Hudson, NY)

$1,500,000 for the New York State Route 133 Bike Lane (Ossining, NY)

$1,096,395 for Bridge Repair/Safety Assurance (Peekskill, Greenburgh, and Tarrytown, NY)

$1,000,000 for the Village of Ossining Route 9 Road Diet (Ossining, NY)

$600,000 for the Restoration of Van Cortlandt Manor Entrance Road Project (Croton-on-Hudson, NY)

$494,400 for the Basher Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation (Tarrytown, NY)

The Senate has yet to take up its version of the transportation bill and Jones is hopeful that his funding requests make it into the final bill.
