CAIRO – The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman and charged her with attempting to decapitate her dog with a sword.

It is also alleged that Pauline Waldron stabbed the dog several times causing further severe injury and extreme pain.

Waldron was charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Authorities said she failed to seek any medical care for the dog, instead leaving it to suffer for approximately eight hours.

The dog required emergency life-saving surgery at the Catskill Animal Hospital before being transferred to a specialist veterinary clinic for further care.
