HIGHLAND – Acting New York State Bridge Authority Executive Director Tara Sullivan will step down from her post when she retires on July 15.

She was appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the authority in February 2019, serving as the chief operating and executive officer of the Hudson Valley-based transportation agency that operates five vehicle bridges and the Walkway Over the Hudson. Those crossings include the Rip Van Winkle, Kingston-Rhinecliff, Mid-Hudson, Newburgh-Beacon and Bear Mountain.

Sullivan served as deputy executive director for eight years. Prior to her positions with the bridge authority, she served as executive director of the New York State Quadricentennial, the Hudson Valley regional director for the governor, and positions with several legislative commissions.

The Red Hook resident has also served on the Woodstock Town Board, Ulster County Legislature, Dutchess County Ethics Board, Red Hook District School Board committees, Red Hook Town Ethics Board, and several community service boards and committees.

She is married to Ned Sullivan, president of Scenic Hudson, Inc.
