Three housing authorities receive emergency federal aid

WASHINGTON – The American Rescue Plan has allocated $643,356 to three area housing authorities.

The funding, through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will support tenant-based rental assistance for individuals who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness, or who are fleeing from domestic violence, human trafficking, or sexual assault.

The Ellenville Housing Authority will receive $207,264; the City of Poughkeepsie will receive $15,480; and the Village of Kiryas Joel Housing Authority will receive $240,612.

The funding was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
