BEACON – Mayor Lee Kyriacou has created a City of Beacon Police Advisory Committee, a nine-member panel to develop policy recommendations to follow up on the city’s EO203 report. He sees the committee as the next step in reforming public safety in the city.

The new group will be led by the former co-chairmen of the Police Reform and Modernization Committee – Pastor John Perez of Faith Temple Church, and Mark Ungar, a political science and criminal justice professor at the City University of New York.

It will be made up of religious leaders, representatives of community groups and members of the community.

“Mayor Kyriacou has brought together a talented group of people,” said Pastor Perez. “I’d like to thank the mayor and council for their continued support for community safety. We are eager to pick up where he left off from the Police Reform and Modernization Committee.”
