Galleria locked down amid report of man with gun

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A report of a man, possibly armed with a gun, walking through the parking lot of the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill led to the large shopping venue being placed in lockdown on Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in minutes before 3 p.m. resulting in a massive police and fire department presence and evacuation as investigators went store by store clearing the mall.

About an hour later, Police Chief Robert Hertman gave the “all-clear” signal, that there was no threat to patrons at the mall, the lockdown was lifted and the mall was reopened.

Assisting in the investigation were State Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Village of Goshen and City of Middletown Police, the Wallkill and Orange County Offices of Emergency Management, Mobile Life Support Services, state forest rangers and fire departments from Mechanicstown, Bloomingburg, Circleville, Silver Lake, Goshen, Montgomery, Washingtonville, City of Middletown and the Orange County Fire Coordinator.
