MIDDLETOWN – It has been many years since the City of Middletown bought the former federal courthouse for conversion to city court space.

The city and State Office of Court Administration have been unable to come to terms on conversion specifics until now, said Mayor Joseph DeStefano.

“We are hoping to have this out to bid by September-October. The Office of Court Administration is onboard,” the mayor said.

The city has one courtroom at City Hall. The new facilities, also with one courtroom, must add a second one, and the size of the facilities is being worked out by state and city officials.
