MONTGOMERY – The Valley Central School Board and District officials did not ensure information technology systems ere adequately secured and protected, a

State Comptroller’s Office audit found.

The audit found that the district did not monitor compliance with the district’s computer acceptable use policy; did not have a contingency plan to recover in the event of a significant service interruption; and did not physically control access to or establish environmental controls over the sever room.”

Sensitive IT control weaknesses were communicated confidentially to officials.

Key recommendations from the state include monitoring compliance with the computer acceptable use policy; adopting a contingency plan so that users know their duties during a significant service interruption; and establishing physical security and environmental controls over the server rooms.
