Dutchess Office for Aging re-opens senior friendship centers

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Office for the Aging has reopened six of its eight Senior Friendship Centers to full operation after being closed fore more than a year due to COVID-19.

The six centers are open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering a hot lunch each day and all the previously available programs, including arts and crafts, health and exercise programs, bingo and other games.

“Seniors throughout this country were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic – suffering not only unimaginable loss of life, but also the isolation brought on by physical distancing,” said County Executive Marcus Molinaro. “

The six centers that are reopening are in Beacon, 1 Forrestal Heights, Monday through Friday; East Fishkill Community Center in Hopewell Junction, Monday through Friday; Millerton, at the North East Millerton Library Annex, Monday through Thursday; Pawling, at the Town Hall Annex, open Tuesday through Thursday; Red Hook, at the community center,  open Monday through Friday; and Amenia, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wassaic, open Monday through Thursday.
