VALATIE – A 77-year-old Valatie woman, who was walking on Main Street in the village inside a marked pedestrian crosswalk, was struck and killed by a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Chatham man, State Police said.
The incident occurred around 12:18 p.m. on June 14 as Joan Gavigan was walking in the marked pedestrian crosswalk and collided with a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by David Parlman as he was making a left turn onto Church Street from Main Street.
She was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.
The investigation is continuing.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and Valatie Fire Department were also on the scene rendering aid.
