ALBANY – Private sector jobs in the Hudson Valley rose during the 12-month period ending in May by 95,300, or 14.6 percent, to 747,200, the State Labor Department reported on Thursday. The largest gains were in leisure and hospitality, at 30,500 jobs.
Trade, transportation and utilities grew by 26,600 jobs; educational and health services by 13,500; professional and business services by 9,900, natural resources, mining and construction by 7,500; other services by 6,900; and manufacturing by 2,700.
Job losses were greatest in financial activities at 2,300.
The May 2021 over-the-year job gains continued to reflect the reopening of the economy as more pandemic-related restrictions around businesses are lifted.
