NEWBURGH – An individual at Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus in the City of Newburgh has tested positive for COVID-19, the district reported on its website NFA page.

The advisory said the individual has not been present in the school building.

“Children and/or staff that were in direct or proximate contact with the positive case will be contacted by district staff and/or Orange County Department of Health and will be instructed to quarantine,” the June 15 message to families and staff said.

The district did not say if the infected person was a student or staff member.

The message also noted that students, faculty and staff “maintain relationships beyond our school walls and into our local community. We feel it is important to keep you informed, so that you can check in with your social network when a case is confirmed at a particular school or district building.”
