NEW ROCHELLE – A 35-year-old New Rochelle man has been arrested and charged with shooting another man in that city.

Police said Richard Faulkner was taken into custody without incident and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

NYPD had notified New Rochelle Police that a 20-year-old local man, Tairus White-Edney, had walked into Jacobi Hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot.

Detectives responded to the area of the shooting, Colonel Lee Archer Boulevard and Jacquetta Cole Street where they found three shell casings.

Police said it is believed Faulkner fired at an unknown target and struck White-Edny in the foot. It does not appear that he was the intended target.

Further investigation found a .380 caliber handgun at White-Edney’s residence leading to a charge of criminal possession loaded weapon.
