Port Jervis man arrested as fugitive from justice

PORT JERVIS – A 27-year-old Port Jervis man was arrested early Thursday morning on Pike Street and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was wanted by Frankfort Municipal Court in Sussex County, New Jersey for the felony offense of conspiracy to distribute more than one-half ounce, but less than five ounces of heroin.

When officers attempted to place Christopher Cox under arrest, he fled on foot and was apprehended by officers after a brief struggle on the Matamoras/Port Jervis Bridge.

Officers also recovered 112 packets of heroin and a quantity of crack cocaine.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and resisting arrest.

Cox was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
