Orange County Jail staff saves inmate attempting suicide

GOSHEN – Orange County Jail corrections officers and medical staff saved a 26-year-old inmate who attempted suicide by hanging just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1.

Officials said the man was being housed in one of the medical units inside the facility.

Staff immediately began medical interventions by performing CPR until additional medical personnel arrived.

The inmate was transported to Garnett Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill by Goshen Volunteer ambulance along with Mobile Life Support Services where is he currently under care.

The State Commission of Correction was notified as a mandatory reportable incident.
