NEW YORK – Federal authorities have settled a civil fraud lawsuit against Naughton Energy corporation and two of its owners for allegedly scamming the new Tappan Zee Bridge government project of $692,000.

Officials said the Pennsylvania-based fuel distributor and its husband and wife owners supplied diesel fuel to vehicles and equipment on the project to build the new Governor Mario Cuomo TZ Bridge.

A settlement reached, which requires the company to pay back the money, claims it fraudulently submitted false claims to the prime contractor that it was solely performing millions of dollars of work when much of the work was performed by a non-Disadvantaged Business Enterprise as it claimed.
