Five arrested in large-scale narcotics operation

COXSACKIE – Five people have been arrested for allegedly operating a large-scale narcotics operation in Greene County.

Two others, including a state trooper, were charged with misdemeanor drug charges.

On May 24, State Police and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office executed three search warrants in Greene County and one in Albany County seizing 500 grams of cocaine, two illegally possessed handguns, three illegally possessed AR-15 rifles, several gun parts for the assembly of “ghost” guns, and $10,000 in cash.

Jarrod Reese, 31, of Athens was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Cassandra Garza, 30, of Athens was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Timothy Reese Jr., 33, of Earlton was charged with criminal possession of drugs and a weapon, both felonies.

Cheryl Medert, 55, of Earlton, the mother of Timothy and Jarrod, was charged with felony criminal possession of drugs.

Dwayne Brown, 38, of Watervliet, was charged with criminal possession of drugs, as a felony.

All were arraigned with Jarrod Reese, Garza and Brown being remanded to the Greene County Jail without bail. Timothy Reese was remanded on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. Cheryl Medert was released on her own recognizance.

Two other people, Robert Coleman, 46, and Jessica Spinner, 334, both of Slingerlands, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor drug possession and issued appearance tickets. Coleman is a state trooper assigned to Troop T.

Police said additional charges are anticipated.
