CIRCLEVILLE – Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney is thankful there is a ceasefire in the latest fighting between Israel and Hamas to prevent further killing of non-combatants on both sides.

The Democratic lawmaker make his comments while in Circleville on Saturday as part of his latest weekend of constituent briefings this weekend.

“I am proud of the Biden administration for the quiet, yet effective diplomacy in getting us to this point and the most important thing is that we continue to guarantee the security of Israel, but also do the hard work of addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, and we have to do both,” he said.

Opponents of the cease fire are concerned that it will give Hamas time to restock its arsenal.

Maloney made his comments while at a constituent meet-and-greet at Circleville Park in the Town of Wallkill. He held a similar event in the City of Newburgh earlier in the day.
