Arrest made in New Rochelle bank robbery

NEW ROCHELLE – City Police in New Rochelle arrested a bank robber moments after she left the Chase Bank branch at 270 North Avenue Thursday morning.

Police said at around 9:48 a.m., they responded to the bank after a suspect, later identified at Mary Thompson, 56, of New Rochelle, handed a teller a note stating, “give me $100,000. I have a gun.” The teller turned over approximately $7,000 at which time the suspect left the bank.

Responding officers quickly apprehended Thompson outside the bank without further incident.

She was charged with first-degree robbery.
