ALBANY – Following reports that Democratic Governor Cuomo will earn over $5 million for his COVID-19 book deal, State Senator Sue Serino (R, Hyde Park) criticized him on Monday for “profiting so brazenly off one of New York’s greatest tragedies.”

Serino said people are still out of work as a result of the pandemic, yet Cuomo will earn millions on his book deal.

“This governor is so out of touch with reality and people. To have $5 million to profit on the backs on all the sorry that happened this past year is absolutely disgusting,” she said.

The senator said every penny earned from the book “should be immediately turned over to New York families impacted by his failed policies.”

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro also chimed in on the book deal. “As New Yorkers faced heart wrenching loss, Andrew Cuomo lied, denied and profited. He should donate every dollar of his blood-stained memoire,” said Molinaro, who is considering a second run for governor. “He won’t – instead we will need to settle for impeachment, indictment, or resignation.”
Molinaro lost against Cuomo in the last gubernatorial election.
