TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – The Putnam County SPCA is seeking information regarding the owner of an older, non-neutered male Mastiff/American Bulldog mix breed dog found lying on the road near the intersection of Sodom Road and Brewster Hill Road in the Town of Southeast.

At around 4 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, a good Samaritan found the dog and brought it to Guardian Veterinary Specialists 24-hour animal hospital.

The attending veterinarian found the dog to be a 3/9 on the body scale index. He was underweight, bones raised with minimal tissue between the skin and bone with hips, spine, and ribs easily visible, severe dental disease, masses inside the mouth, long toenails, swollen paws, a broken bottom jaw, and there was an extremely large untreated anal mass with necrosis.

The Putnam County SPCA Law Enforcement Division has opened an investigation and asks any member of the public, who might know where this dog has come from, to contact the SPCA at our 24-hour number 845-520-6915, calls may remain anonymous. The Putnam County SPCA asks that this number be used only to contact them with tips regarding the criminal investigation.
