POUGHKEEPSIE – A former Poughkeepsie man, Daniel Barlotta, has lost his appeal of his murder conviction in connection with the beating death of a man he and an accomplice were trying to rob.

The victim, Frederick “Joey” Veitch III, 28, of Shandaken, had been tied up and beaten during a home invasion at 48 Marshall Street in the City of Poughkeepsie in November 2017.

Barlotta, who was 19 at the time, was convicted by a Dutchess County jury of murder, robbery, and conspiracy.

The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court rejected his arguments in a May 12 decision.

Barlotta and David Perry, 49, of Poughkeepsie, had bound and beaten Veitch in a first-floor apartment. He died from his injuries.
