Monticello man arrested with stolen gun

THOMPSON – A Monticello man is in the Sullivan County Jail on bail following his arrest on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a defaced weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, all as felonies.

Diondre Thomas, 20, was a back seat passenger in a Honda CRV that was stopped for speeding on Route 17 in the Town of Thompson at 2:35 a.m. on Friday, May 7. The vehicle was stopped on West Broadway in Monticello.

As troopers from the Liberty barracks were speaking with the driver, they observed Thomas attempted to conceal something in the seat.

They removed all occupants from the vehicle and found the loaded Walter Model PP 32 handgun that was reported stolen. Thomas told troopers the gun was his.
