GOSHEN – The Orange-Ulster BOCES Crime Scene Investigation team won the New York State Crime Scene competition on Saturday, April 24.

This year’s team consisted of seniors Lillian Menichiello of Marlboro and Valley Central’s Gabriella Suriel and Mariannie Matos.

The competition was held virtually and the team had to process a scene that involved an assault with a knife. Competitors collected evidence including dusting for fingerprints, DNA evidence, clothing, weapons, and other evidence. They had to photograph and take measurements of the scene to complete a sketch. They also had to complete all pertinent forms and reports.

They are scored on all the facets of the CSI.

This is the second time in Orange-Ulster BOCES history that the team has won a state title. The team will move on to the state championships in June.
