TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Fire of unknown origin damaged a house at 41 Route 17K in the Town of Newburgh on Sunday afternoon.

Flames shot through the roof in one location as smoke billowed from a vent on the side of the attic.

The two-alarm fire brought out firefighters from Goodwill, Winona Lake, Stewart Air National Guard and City of Newburgh.

The fire was initially fought from outside, but later firefighters entered the building looking for hotspots.

Town of Newburgh EMS was also on the scene and Central Hudson was called for a power cut.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
