POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the department’s Police Athletic League are hosting a “Hooked on Fishing” event for children on Saturday, May 15.
According to Police Officer Colin Miller, the free event is taking place at Morgan Lake from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is open to children under the age of 16.
Sponsored by Stewart’s Shops, the Hudson Valley Federation of Sportsmans Clubs, and Rose & Kiernan Insurance, the event will feature prizes and light refreshments for the participants.
A generous donation from a local business has made it possible for the police to provide new fishing poles to at least the first 30 children. The young anglers are encouraged to bring their own poles, bait, and gear to the event.
