KINGSTON – It is Christmas in April for Kingston as the city will receive over $1.3 million in new state funding under the City Touring Route program. That is in addition to $1.1 million in street improvement funds the city expected from Albany in the recently adopted state budget.

Senator Michelle Hinchey (D, Saugerties) brought the good news to Mayor Steven Noble at City Hall on Thursday.

“When we invest in our roads, we are in turn, creating pathways into the middle class because we are directly helping loved ones get to work and to school safely and on time. That is how we all need to think about our aging updated infrastructure,” she said.

The new $1.3 million “will go a long way in helping us improve major roadways through our community,” said Mayor Noble.
