WASHINGTON – Head Start programs in Orange County have received $200,000 in federal grants to help fund education and development services for children from low-income and underserved communities.

“The funding will allow us to continue bridging the learning gap from day one – a gap that disproportionately affects low-income children and has only widening since the beginning of the pandemic,” said Ann Pagliaro, executive director of Head Start of Eastern Orange County.

Charles Quinn, chief executive officer of the Regional Economic Community Action Program, said the funding “will enable us to continue our critical work of addressing the needs of families with low income by providing their children with the resources to attain skills, gain knowledge, and feel prepared as they matriculate into kindergarten.”

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) announced the grants.
