NEWBURGH – A Newburgh man is under arrest after he allegedly shot a woman in what Newburgh City Police are calling a domestic incident.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, when the suspect, Anthony Nash, 34, knocked on the victim’s front door in an attempt to get inside. She wouldn’t open the door, so Nash tried to get in through a living room window.

The victim tried to defend herself and stop Nash from entering her home at which time Nash shot the woman in the arm before he fled on foot. The victim was transported to the hospital by Officer Scott.

Nash led police on a chase through sidewalks, backyards and over fences. Office Jodice was able to knock ground to the ground where he was apprehended. A loaded 9mm was located in the area and a 9mm gun missing a magazine was found.

An office and K-9 backtracked the route Nash took when he fled and found a 9mm gun missing its magazine.

Nash was charged with assault, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon.
