New Windsor man killed in motorcycle-truck crash

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – Police have identified the man killed when his motorcycle collided with a GMC Sierra truck at the intersection of Route 52 and Rock Cut Road in the Town of Newburgh on Tuesday as a 46-year-old New Windsor man.

Town police said Shakir Rashada was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation found that the truck, driven by a 21-year-old Newburgh man, was driving westbound on Route 53 attempting to make a left turn onto Rock Cut Road. Rashada was riding eastbound on Route 52 on a 2003 Harley Davidson and as the truck was attempting to turn left, the two vehicles collided.

Police said at this time there are no charges and the accident is being investigated by Newburgh Town Police assisted by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Also at the scene assisting were the Orange Lake Fire Department and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
