MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Police are investigating two Wednesday night shootings that took place after a peaceful vigil honoring rap music artist DMX, who died this week. The separate shootings sent two victims to Jacobi Hospital.
The first shooting occurred at approximately 9:48 p.m. in the area of 4th Street and 5th Avenue. The second shooting occurred at 9:59 p.m. in the area of 7th Avenue and 4th Street.
Both victims are currently hospitalized in stable condition, according to Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard. The incidents were separate from each other and unrelated to the DMX vigil, he said.
