ALBANY – Hudson Valley jobs declined by 7.3 percent, or 58,100, in the 12 months ending in March, the State Labor Department reported on Thursday.
Employment losses were the greatest in educational and health services, at 16,500; leisure and hospitality, at 15,800; trade, transportation and utilities, at 8,500; other services, at 5,700; natural resources, mining and construction, at 3,800; financial activities, at 3,500; manufacturing, at 2,400; information, at 1,400; and professional and business services, at 500.
Sullivan County suffered 8.2 percent job losses, while Columbia County, Ulster County, ad the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division each saw 8.1 percent losses in jobs.
Jobs fell by 7.1 percent in the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area while Greene County lost only one percent of its jobs.
