HYDE PARK – A rowdy off-campus party by hundreds of Marist College students on Saturday led to drinking, littering, and even flipping a car in a parking lot at 15 Big Meadow Lane in Hyde Park.

The property has two structures on it that the landlord has converted into several individual rooms that are rented by students, according to neighbors.  The addresses are 15 A, 15B, and 15C Big Meadow Lane.

A statement from Marist said: “The College has clear expectations regarding student behavior as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. We do not condone the destruction of property and are working with law enforcement to learn more about the particulars of the event in question. The Office of Student Conduct will be handling the internal investigation of the students involved.”

Chief Robert Benson was provided a copy of the car-flipping video on Tuesday. The police were able to track down the registered owner of the vehicle who declined to press charges.

Because it occurred on private property, the police cannot arrest anyone.

Chief Benson indicated that his officers were going to issue nuisance violations to tenants at the property today.

The two structures rented to a number of Marist Students on Big Meadow Lane.

The property is owned by Big Meadow Property Corp.
