MONTICELLO –Sullivan County apartment dwellings who had not paid rent since the pandemic hit one year ago, can expect a total of $2.2 million from the latest federal stimulus package.

That figure was arrived at based on a nonscientific study participated in by about one-third of rental operators, said County Health and Family Services Commissioner John Liddle.

“There were 647 units that were in arrears, so that is 19.3 percent. It looks like we are going to have 1,100 to 1,700 rental units across the county that are going to be looking for these emergency assistance funds when they become available,” he said.

A total of 97 rental property owners participated in the county survey representing 3,357 rental units, about one-third of the total in the county.
